Day 1 in Yunnan - Kunming

This morning was our last oppertunity to enjoy the great food of Xining. So before we exchanged the Qinghai province for the Yunnan province, we had to get some lamb noodle soup for the last time. Luckily, the place was just next to our hotel. We realised that we would miss it very much, so we ordered 6 large bowls in total. The little boys who worked at that place were pretty amazed about our big appetite. Actually, I shouldn't talk about this because it starts to make me hungry.
So we took the cab to the airport after that. The plane was scheduled at 11:45 and the duration of the flight is 3:25 hours. Strangely enough, the plane made a stop at Chengdu. It seemed that some travellers on the plane had Chengdu as the destination. At the Chengdu airport, they would board people who travels from Chengdu to Kunming. So it quite felt like a bus. Some people go off and other replace their seats. This is a pretty efficient system if you think about it. Because Xining to Kuming isn't the most popular route around, it wouldn't be possible to fill the whole plane. So instead, they do two destinations with one flight. How smart.
After a couple of hours, we finally arrived in Kunming. It was very cloudy and once we got in the cab, it started raining very hard. I could have expected this because the asian monsoon season affects the southern areas of China. I also read about some nature disasters in the Chinese newspaper. There were some landslides, storms and fluds in some Chinese provinces including Yunnan. Of course I will do some research about this before I plan my trip. So no worries.
When we were on our way to the hotel, we saw the big M. You know what I mean right? So we immediately knew what we wanted to eat that night. Don't get me wrong. In Holland, I never eat this crap. But after two weeks of non-stop exotic dishes (I mean the Nepali and Tibetan food), we needed some captalist junk food. Of course, we had our share of pizzas and so called italian ravioli, but these were subjected to the asian interpretation of western food. They pretty sucked. So it seems that Kunming is pretty developed, according to the amount of M's in this place.
We didn't do much today. We wandered around in Carrefour after the M. Just checking out some stuff and we got back at our hotel and took a rest. This was also because of the heavy raining. I will grab a bite now, do some research about our trip and got some rest. See you guys next time.
