Day 3 in Kathmandu

This morning i woke up at 6:30 again. This is because of the arrangement of our tour and the passport-hand-in deadline of the chinese embassy. Unfortunately, there was no travel agency open at this time (jacky told me they were. Screw you!). So what else could we do besides getting some food? Exactly. So we got us some breakfast at the Helena restaurant which is recommended by the lonely planet for iets great view of the city. And so it was. We had some authentic Nepalese scrambled eggs with some toast, butter, jelly, potaties and a banana.
Afterwards we went to some agencies to check out the itineraries and the rates. We found out that it was not possible anymore to book the tuesday group tour to tibet. The closest next tour is on saterday. So we had no choice but to book the tour of saturday. Then we realised, once we are staying here for four extra days, we might as well arrange a cheaper hotel. At our arrival in kathmandu, we just booked a standard twin bed room in the Kathmandu Guesthouse. Because this is the most wel known one around. This room actually costs around 18 usd a night. So today we checked out some other hotel and we found a good one with air conditioning for 12 usd. Jacky really needed the airconditioning, otherwise he would die. At least that is what he told me. I don't mind to get the most cheapy ass room for 8 usd. So then we moved our stuff to the other hotel.
Now finally we had time to start our sightseeing around kathmandu. The sun was damn hot, so i needed a hat. Why don't act like a real backpacking tourist and buy a crazy cowboy/hiking hat? So we had checked the lonely planet for a walking tour. We walked and walked, but we couldn't find the first square on the map to use as a reference point. That really sucked and so we kept on walked without knowing where we were. Jacky asked some Nepali people, but they weren't that consistent about showing us how to walk. So we kind wandered around. That was actually quite nice. We have seen alot of local street markets and food markets. Some small parks and other places where locals go. I also took alot of interesting photos. I will post them on my Flickr account as soon as possible.
After our sightseeing we went back to the hotel. Got in the shower and ate some great Nepali food, called "daal baat takhari". It's like a whole set of meal which consists of lentil soup, potatoes, rice, cabage, beans and some lamb meat. And some extra dishes like garlic naan, chicken korma and some other stuff. Very nice. So now we just finished diner, full as we can be, sitting in front of a computer screen like true western-society-grown-up-internet-addicted-spoiled-brats. Ok cya!

Zo te lezen kan je het wel managen daar. Leuke foto's gemaakt. Leuk hoor, ben weer stikjaloers op je!!
In ieder geval een hele fijne reis verder, doe voorzichtig. En wij spreken je snel hea.. See ya vv-ch (vet verwende..) je weet zelf.
